TENURE TRACK POSITION IN MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART HISTORY Scripps College, a women's liberal arts college with a strong interdisciplinary tradition, invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Modern and Contemporary (20th and 21st century) Art History to begin in the Fall of 2026. In addition to a foundation in European and U.S. art histories, candidates whose research and teaching intersect with art of the Global South, gender and sexuality, critical disability studies, or theories of art and architectural history are especially encouraged to apply. The teaching load is four courses per year (2/2) plus senior thesis advising. The candidate will be expected to offer survey courses in European Modernism, the Art World Since 1989, as well as upper-division seminars in the Program in Art History at the Claremont Colleges. Participation in the Core Curriculum in Interdisciplinary Humanities program at Scripps College is also expected. Ph.D. degree must be complete by the position's start date and teaching experience equivalent to one year (four courses) is required.

The salary for this position is $84,767 to $94,185 and will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.
