Home Health of Western Colorado is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare subsidiary of the Volunteers of America parent organization.

Pay:  $18.00 - $22 per hour, based on experience.

\n

Schedule: Part Time, 9am-3pm. Up to 24 hours per week. Days will vary, occasional Weekends may be needed.

The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing and assisting clients with activities of daily living, restorative and supportive care.

\n

QUALIFICATIONS:

\n
    \n
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required. Current License as Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A) in the state working required.
  • \n
  • Experience: A minimum of one year’s experience in working with the frail or elderly population required.
  • \n
  • Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
  • \n
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation.
  • \n
\n

Skills and Knowledge:

\n
    \n
  • Knowledge of principles, practices standards and techniques of a C.N.A.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of medical equipment how to use and maintain.
  • \n
  • Skilled in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, co- workers, medical staff, and the public.
  • \n
  • Skilled in identifying and recommending problem resolution.
  • \n
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • \n
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
  • \n
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • \n
  • Ability to utilize computers and other electronic devices for tasks such as timekeeping, in-servicing and documentation.
  • \n
\n

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

\n
    \n
  • Consults as needed with the RN Case Manager, ADON, and/or the Director of Clinical Services.
  • \n
  • Under the direction and supervision of the RN Case Manager, ADON, and/or the Director of Clinical Services assists clients in the home with the following duties:
    \n
      \n
    • Personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care and bathing/showering.
    • \n
    • Assists clients in and out of bed, assisting with ambulation.
    • \n
    • Assisting with prescribed exercise which clients and aide have been taught by appropriate personnel.
    • \n
    • Assist clients to the bathroom or in using commodes, bedpans, or urinals.
    • \n
    • Other duties taught by a health profession for a specific participant such as taking of vitals, changing colostomy bags, changing of non-sterile dressing and non-sterile bowel and bladder hygiene care.
    • \n

  • \n
  • Completes appropriate documentation of services utilizing the Electronic Medical Records system.
  • \n
  • Follows all HHWCO policies and procedures and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety guidelines.
  • \n
  • Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, results, and information about clients, clients or families.
  • \n
  • Handles potentially infectious specimens with appropriate biohazard precautions, and practices Universal Precautions.
  • \n
  • Maintains safe working environment. Follows HHWCO Safety policies and procedures.
  • \n
  • Acts within the scope of his or her authority to practice.
  • \n
  • Participates in continuing education classes and any required staff and training meetings. Maintains professional affiliations and any required certifications.
  • \n
  • Participates in and supports Quality Improvement Initiatives.
  • \n
  • Performs other duties as required or requested.
