Job description:

• Support student social-emotional development by helping students develop positive social skills and cope with emotional challenges.
• Address behavioral and attendance concerns by working with students, families, and staff to resolve behavioral issues and improve student attendance.
• Connect families with resources by serving as a liaison between the school and community, connecting families with necessary resources for support and services.
• Promote a safe and inclusive climate by contributing to a school environment where all students feel safe, supported, and included.
• Manage cases for students and families who require coordination of services and multiple resources.
• Provide advocacy and consultation on school law, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and advocate for student needs.

Qualifications:

• Master of Social Work (MSW).
• IL Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Social Worker endorsement.
• Experience working at an elementary school as a school social worker is highly preferred.
