| Weeksville Heritage Center | Weeksville Heritage Center is a sustainable modern campus that serves as the gateway to a Brooklyn, New York 19th century African-American freedman’s settlement with restored historic houses. Based on the concept of modern architectural syntax and African riffs, the new two-story, 23,000 sq ft new building and 41,000 sq ft interpretive landscape use simple forms, strip windows, and glass passageways to enrich the premises with natural light creating shadows, moods, and ever-changing perspectives. The added structure and landscape provide state-of-the-art exhibition, performance, and educational facilities, as well as contribute a green oasis for visitors and the local community. | |
