Overview:We are actively seeking a Software Release Manager to join our team in supporting a Software Development and Support program utilizing ServiceNow's Enterprise Service Management (ESM) platform for a Federal agency. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree and have 3-6 years of experience in software release management, with a strong preference for those with experience in ServiceNow or similar platforms. This role is essential for managing the release process for software deployments, ensuring that all aspects of the release are coordinated, and that deployments are executed smoothly and efficiently. The Software Release Manager will work closely with development, operations, and project management teams to plan, schedule, and oversee the deployment of software releases, ensuring they meet quality standards and align with agency requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Release Planning and Coordination: Develop and manage release plans, including scheduling, coordination of release activities, and communication of release timelines to all stakeholders.
Release Process Management: Oversee the entire release process, ensuring compliance with release policies, and managing risks and resolving issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for all release-related communications, providing regular updates to stakeholders and ensuring clear understanding of the release status, risks, and impacts.
Quality Assurance: Work closely with the QA team to ensure that all releases meet quality standards and that proper testing is conducted prior to deployment.
ServiceNow Platform Management: Utilize the ServiceNow platform to manage release processes, including the tracking of release progress, documentation, and post-release reviews.
Change Management Integration: Collaborate with the Change Management team to ensure that software releases are aligned with change management policies and procedures, minimizing impact on operations.
Continuous Improvement: Analyze release processes and outcomes to identify areas for improvement, implementing best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of software deployments.
Qualifications:
· Must be a US Citizen with the ability to pass a background check and receive a Public Trust clearance.
· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.
· 3-6 years of experience in software release management, with a proven track record of managing complex software releases.
· 8 years additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.
· Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
Desired Skills
· ITIL v3 and/or ITIL v4 Certification(s) is highly preferred.
· ServiceNow Certification(s) in various modalities is highly desirable.
· ServiceNow Proficiency: Experience with ServiceNow or similar IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms is highly desirable, particularly in managing releases and deployments.
· Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, schedule, and manage software releases across multiple teams and disciplines.
· Communication and Leadership: Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
· Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently, particularly under tight deadlines.
· Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and technologies, with a continuous improvement mindset.
