Mandarin Teacher, Chatsworth, CA

Job Duties: Teach content and skills in Chinese language, literature, and composition, as well as in reading, to secondary students, utilizing the course of study adopted by Chaminade, and other appropriate learning activities as guidelines in teaching individual course content.

Participate as a contributing member of the Languages Department. Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports as assigned. Plan and develop an engaging, age-appropriate course of study in the classroom, adhering to educational best practices of Chaminade's curriculum guidelines. Design and present individual lesson plans using a variety of teaching techniques that appeal to various learning styles and methods. Prepare materials for lessons, assignments, and tests; evaluate, correct, and grade student performance. Design and implement regular formative and summative assessments to measure student learning. Discuss academic difficulties or behavioral problems with students as they arise. Communicate all progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and, as appropriate, other faculty, staff, and/or principal.

Salary: $104,653/year

Job Requirements: Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Education or Mandarin language and two years of work experience in the job offered. Alternatively, will accept Master's degree in Education or Mandarin language in lieu of Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Education or Mandarin language and two years of work experience in the job offered. Proficiency in Mandarin required.
