At Albany Medical Center, we pride ourselves on being the first hospital in the U.S. verified as a Comprehensive Vascular Surgical Center by the Society of Vascular Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. Located in Albany, our Vascular Surgery Unit specializes in providing exceptional care for patients dealing with vascular diseases and various surgical needs requiring telemetry monitoring. Our patient demographic primarily ranges from 18 to over 90 years old, with the majority between 45 and 65 years. Common procedures you will encounter include Carotid Endarterectomy, Lower Extremity Revascularization, Renal Stenting, and Vascular Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repairs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement physician orders, administer medications, initiate IVs, execute treatments, and document care in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to assess patients' conditions.
  • Assess and evaluate patient needs and their responses to care.
  • Apply sound nursing judgment in patient care management.
  • Provide primary and emergency care for various injuries and illnesses.
  • Administer prescribed over-the-counter and medication treatments.
  • Collaborate with the nursing team to develop an effective Plan of Care for all patients.
  • Guide ancillary staff and uphold professional nursing standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from a professional nursing program with a Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse license.
  • Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
  • 1-3 years of clinical RN experience in Med-Surg or Progressive Care.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of quality concepts and the ability to apply problem-solving tools for patient care improvement.
